HIGHLAND BAND HAPPENINGS

WEEK OF AUG. 27-Sep. 2

A big shout out and thank you to all of our volunteers, parents, friends, and band supporters for all of your help and support for our almost performance at the football game this past Friday.  For anyone that wasn’t at the football game on Friday, as the marching band was warming up to take the field, the game was stopped and the stands emptied due to lightning. The football game was called a little while later.  While the marching band did not get to perform, the football team finished their game on Saturday and won their second game of the season against the Hamilton Huskies with a score of 49-28. Way to go Hawks!

FUNDRAISING MEETING--There is a meeting for anyone interested in being part of our fundraising efforts.  The meeting is on Tuesday, August 28th at 8pm in the Band Room. All Band parents are welcome to join us!

To help keep our bands functioning at such a high level and to help lower band fees, we are looking for companies who would like to be a sponsor of our programs.  The following links contain our sponsorship letter, donation letter and the sponsorship inquiry form.  For every company a band family brings in a sponsor that purchases a package over $500, 20\% goes towards you student’s band fees.  Any questions about our sponsorship program or packages, please contact Renne Foster at 602-672-9081 or sponsorship@highlandhighband.org.

MARCHING BAND

From Mr. Bennett to Marching Band Parents: When picking your child(ren) from marching band rehearsal, please follow the same procedures as after school pick up. Like the airport drop-off/pickup. Please form 2 pickup lanes on the right next to the curb, allowing the left 3rd lane as pass through to get out. We cannot block the turn coming around the north parking lot in front of the band building. Please pull forward and form 2 lines to pick up the students.

For those that have students that are "slow" to get outside to get picked up, please just use a parking space in the lot. School is out by the time rehearsal is over and you can use the parking spots while waiting. You can also pick up your student from the south student lot. There is usually less traffic there since school is out and most of the high school students have already gone home.

Also, competition season is about a month away, when we come home from a competition on the bus, parents cannot park in front of the building next to the curb. No exceptions. The buses must get in and we will have 4 buses this year to pull in and park. Please park in a parking space or pickup from the student lot. Thank you for your help.

Parents:  I know many of you have been asking about the Season Shirts.  The order has been placed and we are expecting them after Labor Day.  Thank you for being patient with us!

We are looking for donations to help with feeding our kids between practice and our next home football game of the season on August 31th.  If you can donate any items on this Signup Genius, please bring to the band room per the directions in the signup.  Thank you for all you do!
